The Condair Dual 2 hybrid spray and evaporative humidifier offers ultra-hygienic performance without the high energy costs of steam humidifiers. It is the ideal solution for applications that need large humidification outputs, close humidity control with low operating costs.
The humidifier can provide up to 1,000kg/hr of moisture to an air handling unit at ±4%RH while operating on just 0.35kW. As nearly all the mechanical components are located outside the duct, most maintenance can be undertaken without having to shut down the AHU.
Hygienic operation is assured through a combination of active silver ionisation, the use of pure reverse osmosis water and purge and drain cycles to ensure that microbial growth is kept to an absolute minimum.
To demonstrate the totally hygienic performance of the Condair Dual 2, the independent SGS Institute Fresenius in Germany undertakes ongoing regular checks on multiple systems and has certified the humidifier to maintain the most stringent hygiene conditions.
The Condair Dual 2 uses active silver ionisation to control microbial build-up throughout the humidifier. Silver ions penetrate the cell structure of bacteria, blocking their respiration and metabolism, and preventing the unchecked spread of micro-organisms.
It also has a residual effect, maintaining its anti-microbial properties throughout the pipe work, nozzles and droplet separators surfaces.
The central control unit monitors the water quality travelling through the humidifier and regulates the emission of silver ions into the system.
Automatic purge and drain cycles also ensure that water cannot be left in the system to stagnate.
The SGS Fresenius Institute performs ongoing independent biological monitoring of several Condair Dual 2 systems to verify its extremely hygienic operation. As well as receiving the SGS Fresenius Hygiene Certificate, the humidifier has also achieved VDI 6022 hygiene certification.
A patented post-evaporation unit is located 60-65cm from the spray nozzle grid. It acts as a droplet separator, ensuring the mist is contained within the humidification section. As the air travels across its moist surface more water is evaporated enabling the Condair Dual 2 to achieve a high evaporation efficiency of 92%. This provides close control of humidity at ±4%RH, whilst minimising waste water.
The post-evaporation tiles are porous and made of a ceramic material. They are extremely durable with a very long service life. The silver ions from the spray water ensure that microbial growth on this post-evaporation system is inhibited, maintaining hygienic operating conditions and reducing service requirements.
The Condair Dual 2 can operate on just 2 bar water supply. This is much lower than most other spray humidifiers. The non-corrosive nozzles are evenly positioned on a stainless steel grid to provide uniform and rapid evaporation across the duct. They have a ceramic insert that gives a durable spray orifice and consistently wide spraying angle throughout their long operational life.
Low pressure and rapid evaporation means high efficiency with minimum energy consumption.
The majority of the Condair Dual 2s maintenance schedule can be carried out without having to shut down the AHU, as most of the mechanical components are located outside the duct. This can reduce AHU downtime, due to humidifier servicing, to just once per year. The system also has very few consumable parts and its low pressure pump requires much less maintenance than high pressure alternatives.
As the humidifier operates at low pressure, the Condair Dual 2 can provide up to 1,000kg/hr while operating on just 0.35kW. This makes it the most energy efficient humidifier of its capacity in the World.
